Greater Manchester Medical School is a new place to study medicine in the heart of Manchester.

Delivered as a partnership between Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford, this is your chance to study in a city that controls its own health agenda.

We are well-positioned in the newly devolved Greater Manchester region – and equipped with clinical partnerships – to meet the needs of the local NHS, while realising our graduates’ goal of staying and working in the city region.

At Greater Manchester Medical School we focus on you and your needs. You will be treated as an individual, with a programme of study aimed at preparing you for the realities of working in the NHS.

You will study from a well-established curriculum and learn from academic and clinical staff with expertise in a range of specialisms, including musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, maternity, biomedical science, reproductive science and respiratory medicine.

Our course

In your first two years, most of the teaching takes place at Manchester Metropolitan University, putting you at the heart of all this city has to offer; a city with one of the largest student populations in the UK.

We offer you the chance to experience the realities of the medical workplace early in your studies with early clinical experience in a diverse range of community based healthcare settings; including mental health, general practice, and public health alongside acute and specialist provision.

In years three to five you will spend most of your time on placement with NHS hospital trusts and GP practices.

Your experience

The city of Manchester has one of the largest and most vibrant student populations and you will be placed at the heart of all it has to offer; from arts, culture and music to history and sport.

You can take advantage of all the facilities offered at our Manchester Metropolitan campus, including an extensive library, IT services and specialist clinical labs as well as our experienced student support hubs.

You will also join over 38,600 other students with access to the vibrant and active Students’ Union at Manchester Metropolitan University.
