How to apply

Applications should be submitted via UCAS with course code A106.

The course will be listed under the Manchester Metropolitan University (institution code M40).

Please be aware that there is an application deadline of 15 October 2018.

Selection process

All applications submitted by the UCAS 15th October deadline will be given equal consideration.

Selection of candidates is based on:

– Academic attainment (achieved qualifications and predicted grades);
– UCAS application;
– UKCAT score;
– Performance at interview.

All aspects of the UCAS application are considered as part of the selection process. Initially, applications are reviewed to ensure they meet Greater Manchester Medical School’s academic and English language requirements. Candidates who meet, or who are predicted to meet the minimum entry requirements, are then assessed, based on UKCAT results, including the Situational Judgement Test (SJT). A score of Band 1, 2 or 3 in the SJT is required to be considered for interview. All applicants must sit the UKCAT in the calendar year of application.

Interview process:

Selected candidates will receive an invitation to interview. No offer will be issued unless an applicant has attended an interview. The interview process uses a multiple mini interview format. The interview is designed to explore your non-academic experiences, skills and qualities, and to enable you to demonstrate that you have the broad range of attributes required of a prospective doctor.

DBS checks and health screening

A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required as a condition of entry to the MBChB Medicine course. This is essential as you will be coming into contact with patients early on in the course. Contact our enquiries line for details on how to apply for a DBS certificate.

In addition, you will be required to complete an Occupational Health assessment to ensure that the School is aware of any disabilities or health conditions which could be relevant to your proposed course of training and future employment.
